Isaiah Rashad

Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Isaiah Rashad has been developing a Southern-rooted rap style since the late 2000s, characterized by relaxed tempos, hazy atmospheres and introspective lyrics that often address family, mental health and everyday tensions. A founding member of the local collective TheHouse, Rashad first drew attention beyond his city after participating in the Smoker’s Club Tour in 2012, before signing with Top Dawg Entertainment in 2013, at a time when the label already included Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock and Ab-Soul. His first official project, the EP Cilvia Demo, was released in 2014 and established the foundations of his aesthetic: Southern rap, understated singing and soulful, melancholic production. Isaiah Rashad followed with The Sun’s Tirade in 2016 and The House Is Burning in 2021, an album that further broadened his palette with tracks leaning toward funk grooves and R&B textures. On stage, he has performed on American rap tours and at festivals, building a career through collective appearances, headlining dates and occasional collaborations with artists from the TDE circle such as SZA, Jay Rock, ScHoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar. In 2026 Isaiah Rashad released It’s Been Awful.
