Born in New York in 2003 and raised on Manhattan’s Upper West Side, Xavier Lopez, known as xaviersobased, has made a name for himself in the American internet underground. His rap draws on his Dominican roots and a musical family heritage—his mother was a DJ in the 1980s. As a rapper and producer, xaviersobased moves between jerk (as an online microgenre), trap, plugg and digicore; his vocal delivery is often off‑kilter, processed and layered, and his rhythms are influenced both by Milwaukee’s low‑end scene and by New York rap. He cites influences such as Chief Keef, Hi‑C, Yung Lean, Lil B and Duwap Kaine. After stints in the online groups Novagang and soevilboyz he founded the collective 1c34 and began releasing music as xaviersobased in 2016, putting out a string of self‑produced mixtapes—from With and 2,000 (2021) to Who Are You?, Someone Help, Nothingnesss, Install and And When (2022), followed by Keep It Goin Xav and With 2 in 2024. The 2022 track “Patchmade,” produced with California’s kashpaint, raised his profile within digital rap scenes; subsequent highlights include the single “40” (2024) with Evilgiane and Nettspend, a notable appearance on the show On The Radar with the track “Special,” a live album recorded for Surf Gang x NTS (2025), the collaborative EP #BASEDSLiME with OsamaSon, and the EP Once More (2025). In 2026 xaviersobased released Xavier, a 20‑track album that extends his experimental approach to online rap while consolidating the sonic identity he developed with the collective 1c34.
