Ultra Sunn

Based in Brussels, the Belgian duo Ultra Sunn has been developing since the late 2010s a personal synthesis of EBM, coldwave and darkwave, carried by Sam Huge’s deep voice and Gaelle Souflet’s synth and bass lines. Their first notable release came with the EP Night Is Mine in 2020, which established Ultra Sunn in a register of upfront rhythms, dark melodies and lyrics focused on anxiety, the body and self-assertion. The project continued this aesthetic with Body Electric in 2021 and Kill Your Idols in 2022, refining a dancefloor-oriented sound in which the legacy of industrial music and new wave is treated with a more direct, contemporary approach. In 2024 the album US broadened this framework by introducing greater melodic nuance and more developed choruses, while remaining rooted in a club dynamic. Ultra Sunn thus sits within the network of European goth, synth and post-punk scenes, playing tours and club and festival dates, and simultaneously developing a dialogue with other artists from these spheres through remixes and occasional collaborations.
