Mae Stephens

Born Anna Mae Kelly in Kettering, Northamptonshire, England, Mae Stephens develops a direct, melodic pop songwriting style often tinged with light funk, favoring short choruses and productions that move comfortably between contemporary pop and more dance-oriented formats. Mae Stephens began releasing music solo in 2020, first under her name Anna Mae Kelly with the tracks 'I Want You to Be Here' and 'Devil Eyes', then as Mae Stephens with 'Infamous Kiss' in 2020 and 'White Lies' in 2021. Her trajectory took another dimension in late 2022, when snippets of 'If We Ever Broke Up' circulated on TikTok before the single's release in 2023, the year Mae Stephens signed with EMI. Since then, Mae Stephens has evolved her palette between catchy pop, funk nuances and more electronic incursions, as on 'Jungle' with Alok and The Chainsmokers, while also appearing alongside Meghan Trainor on 'Mr Right'. In 2024, Mae Stephens gathered this first phase of her career on the EP Securely Insecure, notably carried by 'Small Town Syndrome', and continues a repertoire focused on short, personal and immediately accessible songs.
