Gordo
Born in Washington D.C. in 1991 to Nicaraguan parents and partly raised in Guatemala before growing up in Maryland, Gordo first built his career under the name Carnage with a sound rooted in EDM, trap and hip‑hop. Active since the late 2000s, he began attracting attention in the early 2010s on the festival and club circuit and went on to produce tracks designed for large electronic stages. Under the Carnage alias he released albums such as Papi Gordo (2015) and Battered Bruised & Bloody (2018), as well as the EP Young Martha with Young Thug (2017). From 2021 he moved more explicitly toward house and a more restrained club techno—tracks like “KTM” and “Taraka”—and officially dropped the Carnage name in 2022. This shift came with increased presence on stages in Miami, Las Vegas, Ibiza, Mykonos and Los Angeles, and the development of his Taraka nights built around longer formats. Gordo has also made a name as a producer for other artists, notably on Drake’s Honestly, Nevermind (2022) and For All the Dogs (2023). In 2024 he released the album Diamante, which continues this aesthetic between house, Latin rhythms and club music.
