MoBlack

Under the name MoBlack, Mimmo Falcone has developed since the early 2010s a practice situated between afro house, deep house and melodic house, with a musical approach centered on percussion, voices and organic textures. An Italian, his work was shaped by several years spent in West Africa, notably in Accra, Ghana — a context that nourished MoBlack’s musical identity well beyond the club format. In 2013 MoBlack founded the label MoBlack Records, which became the primary framework for his activity as a producer, DJ and artistic director, with a catalogue oriented toward a house sound open to African influences, understated melodic lines and vocal arrangements. MoBlack’s releases mostly take the form of singles and EPs, in an aesthetic that favors supple rhythms, gradual buildups and a direct relationship to dance while maintaining meticulous attention to timbre. Present on the international electronic scene, MoBlack moves between clubs, festivals and events linked to the afro house scene, while making MoBlack Records a meeting point for artists from Africa, Europe and beyond.
