Crystal Murray

Born and raised in Paris, Crystal Murray grew up in a milieu shaped by jazz and music production, between her father’s saxophone tours and her mother’s work in the music industry. That upbringing informs her songwriting, where neo‑soul, alt‑R&B, pop and electronic touches intersect, with a marked taste for dark textures, supple vocal lines and a tension between melody and rupture. She began writing very young and released the EP I Was Wrong in 2020 as the first milestone of an already personal universe, followed by Twisted Bases in 2022, where her repertoire expands toward more jagged and changeable tracks. Her 2021 COLORS session for “BOSS” broadened her visibility. At the same time she developed activities in Paris, founding the label Spin Desire and launching a residency at Silencio, placing her work within a scene that blends music, club culture and imagery. Crystal Murray’s influences from free jazz, soul and a more frontal contemporary pop translate into songs that explore identities, relationships and emotional contradictions.
