Hannah Wants

Born in Birmingham as Hannah Alicia Smith, Hannah Wants first developed her DJ practice in the early 2000s around speed garage, bassline house and UK garage, before steering her sets and productions toward a drier, more minimalist electronic house sound characterized by heavy bass. After starting out in local bars and spending several seasons in Ibiza, she reached a first turning point in 2010 with a club date on the island that led to a residency at Birmingham’s Rainbow Warehouse and regular bookings across the UK. Her early productions are closely linked with Chris Lorenzo, with whom she released several tracks in the early 2010s, exhibiting a direct club aesthetic between house, bass music and UK groove. In 2015 Hannah Wants held a residency on BBC Radio 1 and delivered an Essential Mix for the station. She has since maintained an international presence, performing on the stages of Ibiza, Glastonbury, Parklife, Creamfields and Coachella. On the discography side, she released the mixes Mixmag Presents: What Hannah Wants and Fabriclive 89 in 2016, and that same year issued the singles “Hidden Love”, “Just”, “Dot Com” and “Found the Ground”.
