Wucan

Formed in Dresden in 2011, Wucan develops a hard rock with psychedelic, folk, stoner and krautrock accents, driven by the voice and flute of Francis Tobolsky, surrounded by Tim George, Alexander Karlisch and Philip Knöfel. The band built itself in the German rock scene with an approach marked by textures of the seventies, extended formats and a taste for contrasts between heavy riffs, progressive passages and airier melodies. After a first EP, Vikarma in 2014, Wucan released Sow the Wind in 2015, then Reap the Storm in 2017, where the writing broadens with long compositions and lyrics in English as well as German. Over the years, Wucan goes through several rhythm-section changes before stabilizing its lineup, while playing numerous club and festival gigs, as well as tours with bands like Siena Root. With Heretic Tongues in 2022, Wucan hardens its sound without abandoning its psychedelic elements, then releases the live album Live at Deutschlandfunk in 2023, recorded in 2021. Axioms, released in 2025, extends this evolution by integrating funk, jazz and electronic touches into a rock base still deeply rooted in German heritage and retro hard rock.
