Le Motel

Based in Brussels, Le Motel has, since the mid-2010s, developed an electronic music built around beatmaking, sample collage and borrowings from traditional musics recorded in various cultural contexts. A producer and graphic designer, Le Motel situates his work where ambient textures, hip‑hop rhythms, percussive motifs and a documentary approach to sound intersect, with a marked taste for instrumental forms. His first solo album, Oka, was released in 2015 and established the foundations of this aesthetic by combining electronic compositions with materials drawn from extra‑Western repertoires. At the same time, Le Motel began to appear on the Belgian scene through collaborations with Yellowstraps, Clap! Clap!, Aliosha and Roméo Elvis, placing his work between production, composition and dialogue with other musical worlds. Le Motel also performed at festivals such as Dour and Pukkelpop in 2016, continuing a trajectory linked to independent circuits, adventurous electronic music and hybrid forms between club, listening and sound‑research contexts.
