Sopico

Coming from the Paris rap scene, Sopico has been developing since the mid-2010s a universe that sits between rap, chanson and sounds close to indie rock. A member of the 75e Session collective, Sopico first drew attention with tracks released online and filmed sessions where rap is blended with a prominent acoustic guitar, creating an introspective, melodic aesthetic. His first full-length album, "YË" (2018), synthesizes this approach by alternating denser rap productions with stripped-down, voice-centred songs. Sopico continues this exploration on "Nuages" (2022), a project whose arrangements open up to more atmospheric textures and song structures while retaining roots in contemporary French rap. On stage he shifts from a guitar-and-voice solo format to lineups closer to a rap concert, performing in both mid-sized venues and general-interest festivals. Present on various projects by members of 75e Session and artists from the new generation of Parisian rap, Sopico thus sits at the crossroads of the rap, indie and urban pop scenes.
