Voyager
Formed in Perth in 1999 around Daniel Estrin, Voyager has grown into an Australian five-piece progressive metal band that sits at the intersection of progressive rock, melodic choruses and a pronounced synthetic aesthetic, while retaining heavy guitars and tightly structured songwriting. Born out of the University of Western Australia scene, Voyager first appeared on the prog-metal circuit with Element V (2003) and uniVers (2007), before honing a more direct, brighter sound on I Am the Revolution (2009), The Meaning of I (2011), V (2014), Ghost Mile (2017), Colours in the Sun (2019) and Fearless in Love (2023). Over the years they have played specialised events such as ProgPower Europe and ProgPower USA, and shared bills with bands like Nightwish, Children of Bodom, Queensrÿche and Epica. The current lineup comprises Daniel Estrin, Simone Dow, Alex Canion, Scott Kay and Ashley Doodkorte. In 2023 Voyager represented Australia at the Eurovision Song Contest with “Promise”, an appearance that raised the band's profile without changing Voyager’s musical identity, still founded on the balance between progressive technicality, melodic sensibility and metal energy.
