Vanishing Twin

Formed in London in 2015 around Cathy Lucas, who had previously been with Fanfarlo, Vanishing Twin develops music situated between psychedelic pop, experimentation, krautrock, modal jazz and touches of tropicalia. The band, whose lineup has evolved around a core including notably Valentina Magaletti and Susumu Mukai, moves with a marked taste for oblique rhythms, airy textures, repetitive keyboards and suspended melodic lines. Vanishing Twin brings this language to light as early as Choose Your Own Adventure in 2016 on Soundway Records, then extends this direction with the Dream by Numbers EP in 2017 and Between Magic & Machines in 2018. The signing to Fire Records accompanies a broader writing on The Age of Immunology in 2019, where the group tightens its work on repetition, psychedelic atmospheres and a form of decentered pop. Vanishing Twin then continues with Ookii Gekkou in 2021, conceived in the context of lockdown periods, then Afternoon X in 2023. On stage as in the studio, Vanishing Twin operates in a circuit that crosses indie rock, adventurous musics and open electronic scenes, with a collective approach that prioritizes movement between groove, improvisation and composition.
