Carla dal Forno

Born out of Melbourne’s independent scene, Carla dal Forno first developed her career within several collective projects before asserting a more personal songwriting voice. In the early 2010s she played in Mole House and later in F ingers with Sam Karmel and Tarquin Manek, a trio with post‑punk, darkwave and minimal folk contours; she also participated in the duo Tarcar. After relocating to Berlin and then London, Carla dal Forno forged a solo universe between electro‑pop, post‑punk, ambient pop and dub inflections, characterized by slow, stripped‑down songs, a prominent bass, hazy textures and a restrained vocal. Her debut album, You Know What It’s Like, was released in 2016 on Blackest Ever Black, followed by the EP The Garden in 2017. After the label folded, she launched Kallista Records and released Look Up Sharp in 2019 and Come Around in 2022. Back living in the state of Victoria, in Castlemaine, Carla dal Forno has since maintained a discreet but steady trajectory, balancing recordings, concerts and appearances on scenes associated with experimental, electronic and independent music.
