Ben Sims

Hailing from the British scene and based in London, Ben Sims has developed since the early 1990s a career rooted in groove-driven, direct and physical techno, nourished by house, soul, hip-hop, reggae and the rave culture of the 1980s. Initially active within the English club context, he later established himself on the international club and festival circuit, where his work as a DJ has accompanied techno’s evolution without severing its funk and house roots. Both his productions and his sets favour tight rhythms, supple basslines and mix constructions designed for movement, ranging from loop-based techno to more percussive forms, with a marked sense of dynamics. Ben Sims has also structured his activity through his labels Theory Recordings and Symbolism, as well as through parties, radio shows and podcasts dedicated to electronic music; over the years he has maintained a focus on the effectiveness of the club format while staying attentive to new generations of producers and DJs.
