RUIZ OSC1

Born in Bogotá, Colombian DJ and producer Erika Andrea Murcia Ruiz, performing as RUIZ OSC1, develops a techno approach nourished by the music she heard in childhood — between salsa, merengue and Colombian folk repertoires. Based in Europe since 2010, RUIZ OSC1 evolves this rhythmic foundation into a percussive, syncopated and dense sound she summarizes as “folkloric techno.” Her sets, often played on vinyl, take place in club contexts oriented toward contemporary electronic music, with appearances at Tresor, RSO, FOLD, Bassiani, VENT Tokyo and Basement New York, as well as at Intercell, Vault Sessions and showcases linked to Mutual Rytm. On the production side, RUIZ OSC1 appears on the KAOS label with a contribution to Ritualistic Discoteca and then with the EP Grooveroots, before expanding her discography with outlets such as Emerald and Molekül. RUIZ OSC1’s trajectory thus connects European club culture and Latin American rhythmic heritage in a direct, physical techno that is open to cross-form interactions.
