Turzi

Formed in Versailles around Romain Turzi, Turzi has been developing since the mid-2000s a repertoire at the crossroads of krautrock, psychedelic rock, electronica and an electro-rock driven by repetitive rhythms, often built on hypnotic motifs and dark textures. The project appeared on the Record Makers label, first with the EP Made Under Authority in 2006, then with three studio albums bearing alphabetical titles: A (2007), B (2009) and C (2015). Turzi evolves his formula between tense instrumentals, more melodic tracks and occasional borrowings from other rhythmic traditions, while maintaining a cinematic and motorik aesthetic. On B, Turzi notably invited Bobby Gillespie on 'Baltimore' and Brigitte Fontaine on 'Bamako', two collaborations that expand the group's scope without changing its direction. In parallel, Romain Turzi released under the name Turzi Electronique Expérience the album Education in 2011, more directly rooted in electronic music. Turzi has also worked for the image, creating pieces around Metropolis in 2007 and Nosferatu in 2012, as well as film scores, which illuminate the narrative and atmospheric dimension of his work within the French rock and electronic scenes.
