Molecule
Born in Paris in 1979, Molécule, whose real name is Romain Delahaye, is part of the French electronic scene, blending techno, bass music, ambient and dub influences. Initially active around the turn of the 2000s in clubs and electronic events, Molécule gradually developed a practice focused on sound exploration and field recording. His productions have been released on several labels, notably in France, placing him in a register where electronic textures draw on environmental recordings. This approach took center stage with the album «60°43′ Nord» (2015), composed after boarding a trawler in the North Sea, and with «-22.7°C» (2018), conceived during a residency in extreme conditions in Greenland. Molécule’s music is characterized by often massive rhythms, a strong use of sonic space and contrasts between atmospheric pads, minimalist melodic motifs and percussive impacts. On stage, he translates this work into live and audiovisual formats, from clubs to concert halls and festivals, playing on immersion and the interaction with the venue’s sound environment. The producer also pursues collaborations with other musicians and projects for dance and image, which extend this documentary and experimental approach to electronic music.
