Thomas Anders

Born in Koblenz, West Germany in 1963 under the name Bernd Weidung, Thomas Anders began singing at a very young age before adopting his stage name at the turn of the 1980s. After several attempts in German schlager, he formed in 1983 with Dieter Bohlen the duo Modern Talking, of which he is the lead vocalist. The project features a highly melodic European pop, blending euro disco, synthpop and dance-pop, with English choruses and a production calibrated for radio and clubs. After the breakup of Modern Talking in 1987, Thomas Anders pursued a solo career marked by several directions, from adult pop to Spanish incursions with Barcos de Cristal in 1994, then toward soul and jazz on other 1990s projects. The reform of Modern Talking between 1998 and 2003 placed Thomas Anders on major European stages with an updated sound toward eurodance. He then resumed his solo path with This Time in 2004, Songs Forever in 2006, Strong in 2010, followed by a shift to the German language with Pures Leben in 2017 and Ewig mit dir in 2018. Thomas Anders has since continued regular activity between concerts, television and new recordings, with a repertoire that links romantic pop, dancing rhythms and eurodisco heritage.
