The Pussycat Dolls

Founded in Los Angeles in the mid‑1990s, The Pussycat Dolls began as a burlesque troupe conceived by choreographer Robin Antin before evolving in the early 2000s into a pop and R&B group aimed at studio work and live performance. Around lead singer Nicole Scherzinger a female lineup took shape, combining singing with tightly choreographed dance and giving The Pussycat Dolls a strongly theatrical identity. Signed to Interscope, the group adopted a dance‑pop and R&B sound mixing urban textures, catchy choruses and hip‑hop influences, with significant emphasis on vocal harmonies and club‑oriented arrangements. The first album, PCD, was released in 2005, followed by Doll Domination in 2008 — two milestones that cemented the project’s aesthetic between mid‑tempo songs and more electronic tracks designed for radio and large venues. The Pussycat Dolls occasionally collaborated with producers and rappers from the pop and hip‑hop scenes and became fixtures on television, at festivals and on international tours. After an extended hiatus in the early 2010s, the group announced a reunion in 2019, marked by a new single in 2020 and a series of media appearances focused on reworking their stage repertoire.
