Eve
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Eve, whose real name is Eve Jihan Jeffers, initially turned to singing before embracing rap and debuting under the name Eve of Destruction. After a stint at Aftermath, she joined the Ruff Ryders circle in the late 1990s and appeared alongside DMX, The Roots and Missy Elliott, within an East Coast hip-hop framework. Eve developed a direct style, backed by a sharp flow, often melodic hooks and lyrics that address both self-assertion and relationships, including intimate partner violence. Her studio discography includes Let There Be Eve... Ruff Ryders’ First Lady (1999), Scorpion (2001), Eve-Olution (2002) and Lip Lock (2013). Over these records, Eve broadened her palette by incorporating more R&B and pop rap, notably on collaborations with Gwen Stefani and Alicia Keys. Alongside her music career, Eve acted in the series Eve and in the Barbershop films, while continuing to make regular appearances on the hip-hop and mainstream scenes. Eve also returned to music with the single 'Reload' in 2019.
