Tiwayo

Rooted in the soul and blues tradition yet firmly anchored in the French scene, Tiwayo develops a project in which the songs are broadly open to Afro‑American influences. A singer, guitarist and songwriter trained between Paris and touring in Europe, Tiwayo forged his identity in clubs and small venues before concentrating that work into a debut album, The Gypsy Soul of Tiwayo, released in 2019. His music blends soul, blues and rock with touches of reggae, favoring slow to mid‑tempo grooves, stripped‑back guitars, discreet backing vocals and particular attention to vocal melodies. Tiwayo’s lyrics, often introspective, range from travel tales and personal doubts to everyday observations, sung in English colored by simple, direct imagery. On stage he adapts his pieces for electric line‑ups or more intimate formats — duo or trio — allowing him to move easily between festival stages and modest‑sized venues, continuing the work he began in the mid‑2010s.
