Marie Sarah
Born to a French mother and a Cameroonian father, Marie Sarah grew up in France in an environment where television constantly broadcast music videos and where musicals held a prominent place. The decisive spark came from the film Dreamgirls, centered on Diana Ross, which steered her toward 1960s soul, crooners, brass sections and the catalogs of Motown, Stax and Chess, with a particular focus on Otis Redding and Etta James. After studying musical theatre at the Cours Florent, Marie Sarah made a name for herself online with a cover of "I'd Rather Go Blind" by Etta James, the starting point for a more structured body of work around her voice and repertoire. Her project blends traditional soul, contemporary pop and touches of RnB, with arrangements that favor warm timbres and accessible melodic writing. A debut EP was released in April 2024, enabling her to expand her stage experience in France — television appearances including the show Taratata, opening slots for Boyz II Men, Gavin DeGraw and Tower of Power, and a series of concerts alongside Seal — while her first studio album, On My Way, is being prepared for release in March 2026.
