Sub Focus
Under the name Sub Focus, Nick Douwma has built a career since the early 2000s that is rooted in British electronic music. Born in Guildford, Surrey, England, he first emerged on the drum and bass scene with releases on RAM Records, characterized by fast rhythms, prominent basslines, melodic synths and club-oriented structures. His debut album, Sub Focus, was released in 2009, followed by Torus in 2013, an album that broadened his sound to include house, dubstep and vocal-driven formats. Throughout his career Sub Focus has alternated between singles, remixes, collaborations and tours on club and festival circuits, maintaining a clear, energetic style focused on rhythmic impact. He reunited with Wilkinson for the joint album Portals in 2020, before returning as a solo artist with Evolve in 2023. In both his sets and productions, Sub Focus blends modern, melodic drum and bass with elements of electro and electronic pop in a direct, dense approach designed for large stages.
