Seefeel

Formed in London in the early 1990s around Mark Clifford, Sarah Peacock, Justin Fletcher and Daren Seymour, Seefeel initially built a rock foundation before shifting toward a sound where processed guitars, loops, ambient textures and techno-adjacent rhythms merged with a shoegaze and dream pop legacy. Seefeel emerged in 1993 with the EP More Like Space and then the album Quique, released the same year on Too Pure, which established that floating, repetitive and highly textured aesthetic. The band followed with Plainsong, Pure, Impure and Time to Find Me — two remixes were by Aphex Twin — and later joined Warp, which released Starethrough in 1994 and the more abstract, electronic Succour in 1995. In 1996 Seefeel issued (CH-VOX) on Rephlex, in an even more minimal, immersive vein. The group then underwent a long hiatus, during which some members pursued other projects such as Scala and Disjecta. Revived by Mark Clifford and Sarah Peacock in the late 2000s with Shigeru Ishihara and Iida Kazuhisa, Seefeel returned to the stage, performed again for Warp and released the EP Faults in 2010 and the album Seefeel in 2011. In 2024 Seefeel continued this trajectory with Everything Squared and then Squared Roots, both on Warp.
