2000 and One

Under the name 2000 and One, Dylan Hermelijn has built a career in Amsterdam tied to the shifts in Dutch house and techno. Born in 1971 in the Netherlands, he began producing in the late 1980s in the wake of acid house and established himself in the early 1990s as one of the first live artists on the local techno scene. In 1993 2000 and One founded the label 100% Pure with Sandy Hüner, an important vehicle for circulating a European techno and house sound that was direct, funky and stripped‑down. After a break in the late 1990s, Dylan Hermelijn returned to music in the mid‑2000s, when minimal techno was reshaping the club landscape, steering 2000 and One toward a more restrained, precise and groove‑focused style. His 2009 album Heritage synthesizes this approach between minimal house, dry techno and the sense of movement inherited from his early years. Since then 2000 and One has remained associated with clear, no‑frills club writing rooted in the Dutch electronic scene and its international extensions.
