Roachford
Born in London in 1965 to a family of Barbadian origin, Andrew Roachford began developing the Roachford project in the late 1980s, built around his voice, keyboards and a rock-soul band. Roachford occupies a crossroads between British pop rock, contemporary R&B and soul, with songwriting focused on choruses, groove and spare arrangements. After early stage appearances as support for Terence Trent D’Arby and The Christians, Roachford released the album Roachford in 1988, followed by Get Ready! in 1991, Permanent Shade of Blue in 1994 and Feel in 1997, which extended this formula of rock energy and soul sensibility. Andrew Roachford then pursued a more fluid path between his own name and the band name with Heart of the Matter (2003), Word of Mouth (2005), Where I Stand and Addictive (2011), This Beautiful Moment (2013), Encore (2016), Twice in a Lifetime (2020) and Then and Now (2023). Since 2010 Roachford has also been a member of Mike + The Mechanics, serving as lead vocalist on The Road (2011) and Let Me Fly (2017). Throughout his career he has also recorded with Beverley Knight, continuing a direct, melodic soul-pop aesthetic.
