Go West

Formed in London in 1982 around singer Peter Cox and guitarist Richard Drummie, Go West developed melodic pop rock infused with blue-eyed soul and the synthetic arrangements typical of the 1980s, with songwriting close to British sophisti-pop. They emerged quickly with the singles "We Close Our Eyes" and "Call Me", and established their identity with the album Go West in 1985, followed by Dancing on the Couch in 1987. The duo then moved through the early 1990s with "King of Wishful Thinking", featured on the Pretty Woman soundtrack, and "Faithful", co-written with Martin Page, which accompanied the release of Indian Summer in 1992. Go West's repertoire blends highly accessible choruses, pop-soul groove, bright guitars and elegant production, while remaining within an Anglo-Saxon pop framework suited to both stage and radio. After their most prominent period, Peter Cox and Richard Drummie kept the band active with new recordings, including Futurenow (2008) and 3D (2013), while continuing to perform on British stages and on tours celebrating 1980s pop.
