Info

Hue and Cry and Roachford share the bill on 11 October 2026 at Cambridge Corn Exchange, Cambridge. Two distinct takes on British soul-pop meet on the same stage, entre pop ciselée, groove rock et éclats jazz.

Formed in Scotland by brothers Pat and Greg Kane, Hue and Cry shaped a pop soul sound steeped in blue‑eyed soul, sophisti‑pop and jazz inflections. From Seduced and Abandoned and the hit Labour of Love through Remote, the duo built songs where melodic lines, supple vocals and more crafted arrangements find common ground. The 90s opened a wider field with Stars Crash Down and Truth and Love, then a turn toward jazz on Jazz Not Jazz and Next Move, before returning regularly to the stage in acoustic piano‑voice formats or with a band. Their recent chapter includes Open Soul, Hot Wire, Pocketful of Stones and the retrospective Hue And Cry 40, drawing a clear thread through four decades of writing.

Andrew Roachford’s project folds British pop rock, contemporary R&B and soul into lean, hook‑led songs carried by his voice and keyboards. Launched in the late 80s with Roachford, then Get Ready!, Permanent Shade of Blue and Feel, the catalogue balances rock drive and soul sensitivity, later extended on Heart of the Matter, Word of Mouth, Twice in a Lifetime and Then and Now. Also a lead vocalist with Mike + The Mechanics and a collaborator with Beverley Knight, Roachford brings a direct, melodic approach anchored in groove and unfussy arrangements.
