Seth Gueko

Associated with Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône in the Val-d’Oise, Seth Gueko emerged in the early 2000s on the French rap scene with writing rooted in slang, language play and a strong taste for short, punchy phrases. His style mixes hardcore rap, street rap and black humor, marked by a deep voice, dense delivery and lyrics that blend urban chronicle, popular references and irony. After several mixtapes, freestyles and appearances on the Île-de-France scene, he released Michto in 2009, Bad Cowboy in 2013, La Chevalière in 2016 and Destroy in 2019. Over the course of his career, Seth Gueko has collaborated with many artists from the French rap world while maintaining a readily identifiable aesthetic built on linguistic subversion, raw imagery and a way of combining provocation, self-mockery and social observation. His singular place in French rap has also been reinforced by a steady presence in concerts and on independent collective projects.
