Faf Larage
Rooted in Marseille's early-1990s hip-hop scene, Faf Larage first made his mark within local groups such as Soul Swing and Black & White Zulus, at the heart of the collective orbiting IAM. Quickly recognized as one of the distinctive voices of the movement, he developed French-language rap characterized by a direct flow, a taste for storytelling, and lyrics fed by cinematic references and urban everyday life. His solo career reached a new level with the album “C’est ma cause” released in 1999, marked by a classic hip-hop aesthetic—rhythmic and melodic—and later with “Rap Stories” in 2003, a conceptual project built around film and TV atmospheres. At the same time, Faf Larage made numerous appearances alongside Marseille artists and other French rappers, reinforcing his roots in a scene where collaborations are common. In the mid-2000s he recorded the theme for the French broadcast of the series Prison Break, which secured him a lasting presence in the audiovisual landscape and broadened his audience beyond the rap circle. Since then, Faf Larage has alternated between personal projects, contributions to soundtracks and guest features, maintaining an artistic line centered on narrative, accessible hip-hop grounded in Marseille culture.
