Poets of the Fall
Formed in Helsinki in the early 2000s, Poets of the Fall developed around singer Marko Saaresto, guitarist Olli Tukiainen and keyboardist/producer Markus “Captain” Kaarlonen. Their music is rooted in melodic alternative rock, drawing on post‑grunge, pop and cinematic influences. The band first drew attention in 2003 with "Late Goodbye," a track written for the video game Max Payne 2, which began a sustained collaboration with Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment that later surfaced in Alan Wake and Control. Poets of the Fall subsequently built a steady discography characterized by wide‑ranging guitars, atmospheric keyboards and expressive vocals, from Signs of Life (2005) and Carnival of Rust (2006) to Revolution Roulette (2008), Twilight Theater (2010), Temple of Thought (2012), Jealous Gods (2014), Clearview (2016), Ultraviolet (2018) and Ghostlight (2022). Active on club, venue and festival stages across Europe and beyond, the band maintains a close link between video‑game compositions and more traditional band work — a back‑and‑forth that has strongly shaped the trio’s sonic identity and career.
