Red Axes
Formed in Tel Aviv by Dori Sadovnik and Niv Arzi in 2010, Red Axes occupy a meeting point between electronic music and rock heritage, with a sound that mixes indie dance, warped disco, house, techno, post‑punk, new wave and psychedelic touches. Before Red Axes, the two musicians played together in the psych‑rock band Red Cotton, an experience that explains the enduring presence of guitars, vocals and song structures in their work. After several EPs and maxis released on labels such as I'm A Cliché, Correspondant, Hivern Discs, Permanent Vacation, Crosstown Rebels and Multi Culti, Red Axes released their debut album Ballad of the Ice in 2014 and The Beach Goths in 2017 on their own label Garzen Records, launched in 2016. On these records the duo developed a more open, collaboration‑friendly songwriting approach, notably with Abrão, while retaining a taste for oblique rhythms and dark or hallucinatory moods. In 2023 Red Axes issued One More City on fabric Records. Through DJ sets, live formats and regular appearances on club and festival stages across Europe and beyond, Red Axes have carved out a distinctive trajectory at the crossroads of dance culture and a more alternative sensibility.
