Markus Krunegård
Born in 1979 in Norrköping, Markus Krunegård belongs to a strand of Swedish pop infused with indie rock and melodic rock, featuring direct songwriting, well-defined choruses and a voice that shifts between spoken tension and more lyrical lines. Bilingual in Swedish and Finnish and coming from a family with roots in the Finnish Tornedalen, Krunegård first came to prominence in the early 2000s as the singer of Laakso, then with Hets, before launching his solo career with Markusevangeliet in 2008. He followed with Prinsen av Peking and Lev som en gris, dö som en hund in 2009, Mänsklig värme in 2012 and Rastlöst blod in 2014, a period in which nervous pop met broader arrangements and autobiographical writing. At the same time he has explored various formats and creative contexts, from the EP Lead Singer Syndrome with Kleerup in 2009 to the duo Serenades with Adam Olenius and the BC Unidos project with Patrik Berger. His work as a composer and producer has also led to collaborations with artists such as Veronica Maggio, Säkert! and Miriam Bryant. After I huvet på en idiot, i en bar, på en ö, i ett hav, på en ö, i en bar, i huvet på en idiot (2018), he released TUTTI FRUTTI - från lokalen under sushin et Kemtvätten in 2021 and Nokia & Ericsson in 2023, his first solo album entirely in Finnish.
