Souleance

Born in Paris in the late 2000s, the Souleance project brings together DJ Soulist, from the party and club scene, and producer Fulgeance, active in electronic music and beat tapes. The duo develops an instrumental sound centered on groove, positioned between hip‑hop, funk, boogie, disco and library music, with regular forays into Brazilian and Afro‑Latin rhythms. The tracks rely on collage and sample work, prominent bass lines and heavy drums, conceived as much for listening as for the dancefloor. Souleance became known through a series of maxis and EPs released on independent labels, before expanding the format into albums and compilations that synthesize these different facets. On stage the project alternates DJ sets and hybrid live shows that mix reissues of rare grooves, edits and original productions, and it is part of a European network of hip‑hop, funk and electronica nights. The duo occasionally collaborates with singers, rappers and instrumentalists while maintaining a largely instrumental core.
