El Búho
Under the name El Búho, Robin Perkins has been creating music since 2010 that sits at the crossroads of electronic cumbia, downtempo and electro-folk, nourished by Andean rhythms, dub textures and field-recorded natural sounds. Born in the north of England and raised in Glossop near Manchester, he settled in Paris after spells in Buenos Aires, Mexico and Amsterdam. His trajectory was shaped by contact with Latin American scenes and follows studies in Latin American civilization in Glasgow. Initially close to dubstep and minimal techno, El Búho evolved toward a more organic electronic sound in which traditional percussion, South American folk melodies and mellow bass coexist without sounding pasted together. After the EP El Tecolote Canta (2012), he released the albums Balance (2017), Camino de Flores (2018), Ramas (2020) and Tributaries, Vol. 2 (2022). His path also includes Wonderwheel Recordings, the co-founding of the Shika Shika label with Argentine producer Barrio Lindo, and appearances in global electronic scenes from Tulum to Madrid. He runs parallel projects that combine music and ecology, notably the A Guide to the Birdsong series.
