Peter Doherty
Peter Doherty, also known as Pete Doherty, is a British musician born in 1979 in Northumberland, England. After leaving school at 16 he devoted himself to music, scraping by on odd jobs. He went on to form the band The Libertines with other musicians, with whom he gained fame. A notorious junkie, Doherty was eventually kicked out of the band amid repeated incidents and rehab stints. He then formed Babyshambles, with whom he played numerous concerts and scored hits such as "Fuck Forever". Meanwhile his relationship with Kate Moss kept the British tabloids busy; between a reported mock wedding and cocaine the couple were tabloid fodder. After they split, Doherty plunged into drug use and depression. He continued performing with Babyshambles across Europe. In 2008 he focused on writing and composing his first solo album, but its release was delayed by the rocker's imprisonment. In 2009 "Grace/Wastelands", his first solo album, was released. In 2013 Doherty and Babyshambles returned with a third album, "Sequel to the Prequel", and embarked on a major concert and festival tour.
