Adam Green

Born in Mount Kisco, New York, Adam Green first came to prominence in the late 1990s on the New York anti-folk scene as one half of the Moldy Peaches, a duo formed with Kimya Dawson. After the group paused in 2002, Green developed a solo trajectory where indie rock, offbeat folk, and lo‑fi pop intersect, with writing that is often absurd, melancholic or ironic, carried by a laid-back voice and arrangements ranging from sparse acoustic textures to more elaborate orchestrations. His solo discography opens with Garfield (2002), then expands with Friends of Mine (2003), Gemstones (2005), Jacket Full of Danger (2006), Sixes & Sevens (2008) and Minor Love (2010). Green also released MusiK for a Play in 2010, an instrumental record, followed by a duo album with Binki Shapiro in 2013. The renewed interest in Moldy Peaches thanks to the film Juno recontextualized his early work within a broader indie generation, without breaking from a career that remained independent, moving between concerts in Europe and the United States, visual projects and cinema. Green subsequently released the soundtrack to Adam Green’s Aladdin in 2016, followed by Engine of Paradise in 2019.
