Oh Land
Born in Copenhagen, Nanna Øland Fabricius, under the name Oh Land, develops an electronic pop with synthpop and indie pop contours, often interwoven with experimental arrangements and a melodic sensibility inherited from a broad artistic journey. Trained very young in classical dance at the Danish Royal Ballet School and the Swedish Royal Ballet, she turns to music after an injury ends that first path. Oh Land released her debut album Fauna in 2008, initially in Denmark, before widening her audience with Oh Land in 2011, a record that accompanies her move to New York and takes her on North American stages, notably as the opening act for OMD, Sia or Katy Perry. Her writing pairs clear vocals, electronic rhythms, luminous textures and more abstract shifts, a formula she extends with Wish Bone in 2013 and Earth Sick in 2014. Returning to Denmark in 2016, Oh Land then expands her activity to composing for the stage, with Askepot in 2016, Watermusic in 2018 and several works related to theatre, ballet or television, while also collaborating with Tricky. Family Tree in 2019 marks a more organic turn, while the EP Xtra in 2022 and the album Loop Soup in 2023 pursue work between singer-songwriter pop, electronic and live performance forms.
