Mamas Gun

Formed in London in the mid-2000s, Mamas Gun operate in a soul and pop vein infused with funk and nods to 1970s R&B, driven by the songwriting and voice of singer‑guitarist Andy Platts. Based in the UK but internationally oriented from an early stage, the band develops its project between studio work and live performance, with particular attention to vocal harmonies and arrangements that combine groove, pop melodies and touches of soft rock. Mamas Gun released their debut album Routes to Riches in 2009, followed by The Life and Soul (2011) and Cheap Hotel (2014), albums that show a gradual move toward a more stripped‑back, song‑centred sound. With Golden Days (2018) and Cure the Jones (2022), the band deepened a modern soul aesthetic nourished by ballads, mid‑tempos and funkier tracks, regularly road‑testing material in clubs and festivals across the UK, Europe and Asia. Alongside these activities, Andy Platts has pursued numerous collaborations — notably as one half of Young Gun Silver Fox — which in turn enrich the Mamas Gun universe.
