Love of Lesbian

Born in Barcelona in the late 1990s around Santi Balmes, Love of Lesbian initially developed in an English-sung indie rock register, with albums such as Microscopic Movies (1999) and Is It Fiction? (2002), before shifting to Spanish in the mid-2000s. This change coincided with a more narrative songwriting approach and a sound that blends pop rock, indie rock, psychedelic touches and electronic elements, while retaining a carefully crafted song format. With Maniobras de escapismo (2005) and Cuentos chinos para niños del Japón (2007) the band asserted a clearer identity, continued by 1999 (o cómo generar incendios de nieve con una lupa enfocando la luna) (2009), La noche eterna. Los días no vividos (2012), El poeta Halley (2016) and V.E.H.N. (2021). A stage band accustomed to major Spanish festivals and tours in Latin America, Love of Lesbian has built a continuous trajectory between alternative rock, singer-songwriter pop and more synthetic arrangements, focusing on lyrics, shifts of atmosphere and a constant tension between collective energy and melancholy.
