Ivan Ferreiro
Born in Nigrán, Galicia, Iván Ferreiro first established himself as the singer, principal songwriter and composer of Los Piratas, a band active for more than a decade in Spanish rock during the 1990s and early 2000s. After the group's split at the end of 2003, Iván Ferreiro began a solo career in Vigo alongside his brother Amaro Ferreiro, before releasing Canciones para el tiempo y la distancia in 2005, an album that laid the foundations for a more direct songwriting approach, between indie pop, alternative rock and melodic song. He then developed a repertoire in which arrangements alternate between electric formats, keyboards, ballads and more oblique detours, with Las siete y media (2006), Mentiroso mentiroso (2008), Picnic extraterrestre (2010) and the live Confesiones de un artista de mierda (2011). Over the years Iván Ferreiro has remained active on club and festival stages across Spain, while undertaking occasional collaborations with artists such as Enrique Bunbury, Xoel López and Santi Balmes. His discography continued with Val Miñor‑Madrid: historia y cronología del mundo (2013), Casa (2016), the Golpes Bajos tribute Cena recalentada (2018) and Trinchera pop (2023).
