Michel Fugain

Michel Fugain is a French singer-songwriter and performer whose career spans more than five decades of francophone song. Born in Grenoble, he began performing in the 1960s after leaving medical studies to devote himself fully to music. He first established himself as a songwriter and experienced a decisive turning point in 1972 with the creation of Big Bazar, a vocal and musical collective that became a popular symbol of the 1970s. Songs such as “Fais comme l’oiseau,” “Une belle histoire,” and “La fête” firmly placed Michel Fugain in the French musical landscape. After the Big Bazar period he pursued a solo career marked by numerous stage and recording projects that confirmed his taste for choral arrangements, collective energy and songs with humanist messages. Over the years he has multiplied collaborations, tours and artistic initiatives — including Pluribus and shows retracing the different stages of his career. A major figure in French chanson, he continues to write and perform songs that reflect his commitment to passing on knowledge, to live performance and to creation in all its forms.
