Nicolas Peyrac

Born in Paris in 1949, singer‑songwriter Nicolas Peyrac belongs to the tradition of French chanson, blending pop, folk and Anglo‑Saxon influences. After studying medicine and spending time in photography, Peyrac began by writing for others before establishing himself in the mid‑1970s with songs such as "So far away from L.A." and "Et mon père", which placed him on the French music scene. His first album, simply titled Nicolas Peyrac, was released in 1975 and opened a discography marked by melodic songwriting, narrative and often introspective lyrics, where acoustic ballads, pop orchestrations and tracks with soft‑rock overtones meet. Active on concert and festival stages throughout the 1970s and 1980s, he later underwent a period of withdrawal, before gradually returning to recording and live performance from the 1990s onward with more intimate projects. Alongside his musical career, Peyrac developed a parallel career as a novelist from the 2000s, extending into literature the taste for stories and characters already present in his songs.
