Lil Silva

Based in Bedford, England, Lil Silva, the stage name of Tyrone Jermaine Carter, has developed since the late 2000s a career situated between electronic music, UK funky, instrumental grime, house and bass‑heavy pop. Initially active on the local grime scene, he moved toward a more personal sound with releases such as Night Skanker (2010) and The Patience (2011), which already featured Sampha, a regular collaborator. His EPs Distance (2013), Mabel (2014), Drumatic (2015) and Jimi (2016) reveal songwriting increasingly open to singing, with tracks that combine British club rhythms, soul textures and more melodic formats. Alongside his productions under his own name, Lil Silva works for other artists across a broader register — notably on Banks’s Goddess (2014) and as additional producer on Adele’s 25 (2015) — while also collaborating with SBTRKT, Kano and Africa Express. In 2019 he formed the duo Otherliine with George FitzGerald, a house‑oriented project whose album OtherLiine was released in 2020. His first solo album, Yesterday Is Heavy, appeared in 2022 and continues this trajectory by blending vocals, British electronics and contemporary R&B.
