Laurence Jones

Situated between Stratford-upon-Avon and the European blues-rock scene, Laurence Jones has developed since the early 2010s a career focused on electric guitar, vocals and songwriting that favors the song over virtuosity. Rooted in the British blues tradition, he blends rock riffs, rhythms close to classic rock and touches of soul in a format often presented as a power trio, suited to the clubs and festivals he regularly plays in the UK and on the continent. After his debut album Thunder in the Sky in 2012, he refined his approach with Temptation in 2014 and What’s It Gonna Be in 2015, a series of releases that consolidated an identity between contemporary blues and melodic rock. Take Me High (2016) and The Truth (2018) marked a move toward more pop-oriented structures and stronger choruses, while the album Laurence Jones Band (2019) put more emphasis on the collective that accompanies him on stage. With Destination Unknown (2022) and Bad Luck & The Blues (2023), Laurence Jones refocused his work on a rawer group sound built on simple grooves, direct guitar playing and a forward vocal, continuing a trajectory where the blues serves as the foundation for accessible rock songwriting.
