Larry Goldings
Born in Boston in 1968, Larry Goldings has built a career since the early 1990s that moves between jazz piano and the Hammond organ, with a musical language blending bop, post‑bop and soul‑jazz and a strong sense of groove. Active on the American scene — first in New York, later in Los Angeles — he combines work as a leader, composer and sideman in settings ranging from acoustic trios to projects that place the organ at the center. His long‑standing collaboration with guitarist Peter Bernstein and drummer Bill Stewart has established a trio active for decades, founded on collective listening, rhythmic flexibility and a close dialogue between written material and improvisation. Goldings has also performed with Jim Hall, John Scofield, Jack DeJohnette and Maceo Parker, and has participated in projects connected to American song and pop. His playing shifts from a highly articulated piano approach to a rounder, more mobile organ sound, with constant attention to melody, swing and overall balance.
