Keziah Jones
Born in 1968 in Nigeria, Keziah Jones became an international musical phenomenon within a few years. At just eight years old, Olufemi Sanyaolu, the future Keziah Jones, left Nigeria for England to pursue his studies. A skilled musician, he abandoned his studies in favor of his guitar and began performing on the streets and in a few London clubs. In 1992 he released his first album, “Blufunk Is a Fact”, which sold thousands of copies. The tilted-hat musician built an international reputation through concerts, hit songs and studio albums. In 1995 Keziah Jones released “African Space Craft”, followed in 1999 by the jazz-influenced “Liquid Sunshine”. Between concerts and festival appearances he continued working on new material and in 2003 released “Black Orpheus”. For five years he released no albums but continued to perform regularly, sometimes even in the subway as a return to his roots, before finally issuing 2008’s “Nigerian Wood”, a modern album in which Keziah Jones sings his memories.
