Unreqvited

Based in Ottawa, Ontario, Unreqvited has developed since 2016 a Canadian solo project at the intersection of atmospheric black metal, blackgaze, post-black metal and ambient. Unreqvited emerged with Disquiet in 2016 and quickly broadened its language with Stars Wept to the Sea and Mosaic I in 2018, where saturated guitars, melodic layers and more airy passages come together in long, contrasting compositions. After signing with Prophecy Productions, Unreqvited continued this trajectory with Mosaic II in 2019, Empathica in 2020 and Beautiful Ghosts in 2021, refining a songwriting approach that blends the density of black metal, shoegaze textures and a contemplative atmosphere. A Pathway to the Moon, released in 2025, marks a noticeable evolution of the project, with greater emphasis on vocal lines and an approach conceived with the live format in mind. Long confined to the studio, Unreqvited made its live debut in 2023 before subsequently performing across North America.
