Alice Cooper
Born Vincent Damon Furnier in Detroit (United States) in 1948, Alice Cooper first made a name for himself in the late 1960s with the psychedelic rock band The Spiders and then The Nazz, which was soon renamed Alice Cooper and based in Phoenix. With that lineup, the singer honed a style that blended hard rock, glam, and theatrical staging, marked by imagery inspired by horror cinema and cabaret, a direction confirmed by albums such as "Pretties for You" (1969), "Easy Action" (1970), "Love It to Death" (1971), "Killer" (1971), and "School's Out" (1972). After the group split in the mid-1970s, the name Alice Cooper was retained by the singer for a solo career launched with "Welcome to My Nightmare" (1975), where rock is infused with narrative elements, passages akin to music hall, and orchestrated ballads. Over the decades, Alice Cooper has alternated albums rooted in classic hard rock with forays into heavy metal and nods to the roots of rock, from "Billion Dollar Babies" (1973) and "Muscle of Love" (1973) to "Trash" (1989), "The Last Temptation" (1994), "Brutal Planet" (2000), "Welcome 2 My Nightmare" (2011), and "Detroit Stories" (2021). Still active on stage, Alice Cooper presents a show built on theatrical performance, visual effects, and an immediately recognizable vocal timbre - a central element of his approach to rock in concert.
